Philosophy

Golden joinery, centuries old

Kintsugi (金継ぎ), meaning "golden joinery," is the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer enhanced by precious metals, traditionally gold. Rather than concealing cracks, kintsugi celebrates them, transforming what was once broken into something unique and more beautiful than before.

Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of embracing imperfection and resilience, kintsugi reminds us that every mark tells a story. Each repair becomes part of an object's history, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects renewal, craftsmanship, and beauty.

The workshop

Three hours. Two hands. One unrepeatable piece.

Each workshop lasts approximately three hours, with plenty of time to learn, create, and enjoy the process at a relaxed pace. Everything is provided. You simply arrive ready to create.

Choose your ceramics

Select from a variety of ceramic pieces, each with its own glaze, pattern, and history. Every fragment carries its own story.

Design your piece

Sketch and imagine your creation, deciding how each fragment will come together. No templates. No predefined designs. Only your vision.

Assemble your piece

Learn the techniques inspired by kintsugi to transform ceramic fragments into wearable art. By the end, you leave with a piece that is entirely your own.

I had the privilege of learning the art of kintsugi in Japan, from a family who has practised this craft for generations. They taught me their techniques and the philosophy behind the art, which finds beauty in transformation rather than perfection.

My professional career has been dedicated to healthcare, working alongside teams committed to improving the lives of people living with serious and chronic diseases. Witnessing the resilience of patients has deeply influenced the way I see the world. It is this perspective that drew me to kintsugi, whose philosophy resonates with the strength and beauty that can emerge through life's challenges.

Today, I create and teach jewellery inspired by kintsugi, transforming ceramic fragments into unique wearable pieces. My workshops combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, offering a creative experience that celebrates renewal and the beauty of imperfection.
